Newsletter #6 - July 20, 2020

Hello Neighbors!

We hope you all are staying well and enjoying the nice weather despite these uncertain times.

As the summer starts to wind down and most of our core organizing team is heading to school and/or moving away, we have been brainstorming ways to sustain our network. In order to keep the momentum and support going, beyond the individual capacities of our organizers, we are transitioning to a public ask forum model. This model will be run through our Facebook Group, and will allow community members to post about needs and services and connect with one another on an individual basis. More specific information about how this new model operates will be available here

We are hopeful that this model will allow community members to connect with one another and forge stronger bonds. All posts will be reviewed by the moderators of the Facebook Group, this is purely to ensure that the posts adhere to the guidelines of the group and the values of the network, and to make sure no one is being harmed or acting negatively towards others. We will also be sure to respect everyone’s privacy and dignity.

As a way to engage with our community and create space for open dialogue, we will be hosting a webinar on July 28th at 5 pm! The webinar will focus on the history of Mutual Aid, what Mutual Aid is, and what Mutual Aid looks like in Lincoln and Sudbury, among other topics. Here is the link to the Facebook event

Finally, we want to address the DearLS initiative started by members of our community. For those who are unaware, DearLS is an instagram account where people are posting their experiences at LS involving racism, sexism, harassment, and other reprehensible behavior. We as a network absolutely stand in solidarity with this page. We feel that everyone’s voice should be heard, especially when they feel unsafe in their own community. In addition to our support of DearLS, we are in communication with other racial justice groups in our area, and we look forward to collaboratively working towards active change in our schools and in our community at large.

Thank you very much, and have a great week!

In solidarity,

The Lincoln-Sudbury Mutual Aid Network
